Martie Fine ~ PlaySchool Teacher
Martie Fine founded the Nevada Sage Waldorf School in her own home located in Reno, NV, in the year 2000 when she knew she wished to give her own two daughters a Waldorf education. Cady, the eldest, is now an artist and lives in Seattle and Emma is a supervisor for a large corporation and lives in San Francisco. Martie also has 2 grand fur babies; one dog and one cat.
Martie earned a degree in English from California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly), San Luis Obispo, and attended the Waldorf Early Childhood Teacher Training Program at the West Coast Institute in Canada.
Martie is a life-long learner and has a broad base foundation in early childhood. She has been working with young children for more than two decades in a multitude of capacities. Martie has worked through the University of Nevada, Reno’s Early Head Start Program, started a program for incarcerated pregnant woman, is a certified lactation educator, has worked extensively with families who have experienced trauma, and taught the parent child classes for parents wishing to familiarize themselves with Waldorf early childhood development.
Martie’s love for young children is evident in her dedication to families, in all that she brings to her work, and in the attention and care that surrounds all those in her classroom. Martie’s deep reflection on each child offers inspiration to her colleagues and healing energy to her students.
Martie and her husband Rob, a structural engineer, enjoy animals and anything that has to do with the out-of-doors with some of their favorite pastimes being kayaking and hiking. They also enjoy cultural experiences, dance, theater, live musical performances, and fine art.
Martie’s grandparents lived in Cool and as a child she spent her summers romping these Sierra Nevada Foothills and all the natural beauty that envelops this area. She and Rob purchased a home in Placerville and Martie’s thrilled to be back in the area so that they may enjoy the wonderfully beautiful outdoor opportunities provided by nature here in El Dorado County.
